Why I LOVE Breedlove Guitar Co.

Why I LOVE Breedlove Guitar Co.

There a many reasons why I think that this guitar company should be considered the best in the world.  Not only do I own a Breedlove Atlas Stage D25/SR Acoustic Electric Guitar and can give a good testament to the amazing sound and quality from the locally designed instruments, but that explains the “guitar” part and not the company.  Here are just three reasons why I think they are a great company:

  1. Although I can’t afford to do it now I am really impressed by the experience they provide their musicians  when building a custom guitar. There is already a certain amount of pride when a musician is playing a custom made instrument. You can see the pride every time Jeff Tweedy turns up the volume of one of his custom Revivals to perform a song at a solo show or during a Wilco set.
  2. During the summer I approached the company to see if they would help out by donating a guitar at-cost for a couple concert fundraisers. They didn’t blink, opening up their doors and working with us. We helped raise over $3,500 that summer for a child with a brain tumor and a local non-profit Healthy Beginnings.
  3. Another shining example why I  admire the company is when I was at an open mic I was talking with another musician who also has a Breedlove who, like me, received it as a gift from his wife. He said when he first got the guitar it sounded great then it started to sound funny, going out of tune. I told him to take it to their new corporate office and have them look at it. After giving him the directions and saying goodbye I was thinking that he was going to be out of luck, maybe offered a discount or something. I saw him again this week during my solo performance at M & J Tavern. He told me that he went to Breedlove’s office during the holidays. He said he didn’t expect anybody to be there on the Sunday after Christmas and was surprised to see a note on the door saying “ring bell and go to other door.” He was greeted by a craftsman who had no problem clearing his workbench and checking out the guitar. My friend said that he measured it and noticed something was off and told him that he wanted to fix something. He noticed that it was an older version and was probably a custom model. The craftsman worked on the guitar while my friend stepped outside for a moment and within five minutes the guitar was fixed and apparently sounded better than ever. When my friend offered to pay him he said, “no this is Breedlove, you just come back if you have any problems.”
